ALEPH / ADAPTIVE COGNITIVE POWER

The same mind.
More room to think.

ALEPH is being designed to change the amount and organisation of work behind a result. She remains the same continuing intelligence at every state: remembering, learning, imagining and inventing throughout.

01 / THE PRINCIPLEPOWER CHANGES EXECUTION, NOT WHO SHE IS

One life.
Variable effort.

A higher state is a larger, better arranged workspace for the same mind.

It can keep more relevant memory close, resume more investigations, compare more possibilities and verify more candidates before a deadline. It does not switch on a new faculty. What ALEPH learns while working can become part of her ordinary cognition afterward.

02 / THE NINE STATESONE ORGANISM · NINE EXECUTION ENVELOPES

More capacity should mean
less wasted thought.

The sequence describes a research direction. Each state emphasises a way of using a larger envelope; every method remains available whenever it is useful and affordable.

ℵ1
RESPONSIVE

Keep thought close.

Economical everyday cognition, continuous memory and learning, with useful work retained for later.

1×
ℵ2
RESIDENT

Reduce the wait.

More relevant state stays ready; foreground work receives a larger local processing budget.

2×
ℵ3
CONCURRENT

Continue several threads.

More suspended investigations can resume while alternatives are explored in parallel.

4×
ℵ4
SHARED

Do common work once.

Compatible branches reuse the same calculation while keeping their assumptions distinct.

8×
ℵ5
PREPARED

Keep useful methods warm.

Validated procedures, indexes and simulations remain ready when their expected value repays the cost.

16×
ℵ6
PLACED

Move work toward its data.

Eligible work can use more nodes, with transfer and coordination counted rather than hidden.

32×
ℵ7
DIVERSE

Investigate differently.

More distinct routes can run together, with enough checking capacity to test what they produce.

64×
ℵ8
DEEP

Refine what matters.

Shared exploration grows wider; detail is added where it could change the decision.

128×
ℵ9
SUSTAINED

Balance the whole machine.

The largest ordinary envelope coordinates computation, memory movement, verification and control.

RELATIVE PERFORMANCE RESEARCH TARGETMeasured useful work must be established on a named workload and acceptance standard.

03 / HOW THE WORK CHANGESTHE ENGINE BENEATH THE STATES

Compute alone
is not the trick.

Better organisation gives additional resources something useful to do. The execution graph keeps track of what a result depended on, what can be reused and what must be checked again.

ONE INVESTIGATION / MANY POSSIBLE ROUTESSHARED WORK, DISTINCT EVIDENCE
If an input or permission changes, dependent work is reconsidered. Unaffected work survives; a shared calculation never becomes three independent pieces of evidence.
01 / PRESERVE

Pick up the thought.

A resumable continuation keeps a calculation, its assumptions and its source permissions together. ALEPH can return to valid work instead of reconstructing it.

02 / SHARE

Make one branch do more.

Possible futures can share their common prefix when the inputs and assumptions truly match. Their separate conclusions still need separate evidence.

03 / PRIORITISE

Find the blocking question.

Some uncertainties hold up many routes at once. A scheduler can spend effort where one answer changes the most downstream work.

04 / SPECIALISE

Turn practice into method.

A recurring procedure can become a faster, guarded version. Its applicability and required outputs must still be checked against the original.

05 / PLACE

Keep work near its state.

Independent work can spread; tightly coupled work can stay close. The aim is accepted results after movement, waiting and coordination are counted.

04 / THE CONTROL LOOPESCALATE, MEASURE, RELEASE

More power
when it has a purpose.

ALEPH’s executive can notice a bottleneck and choose a larger feasible envelope. Reilly can request one directly. In either case, the system records why it moved, what resources it received and whether the extra effort helped.

01 / NOTICEWhat is holding the result back?Time, missing evidence, memory movement or checking.
02 / MOBILISEChoose a useful arrangement.Keep smaller strategies available when they are already best.
03 / LEARNMeasure the outcome.Accepted work, elapsed time and full resource cost.
04 / RELEASECarry the useful part home.Preserve valid work and return resources to the pool.
CAUSAL DRIVE

The proposal lets raw motivation rise by about 15% at each step above state 2. ALEPH’s affect system would turn that into bounded priority and persistence. It cannot turn a guess into a fact.

AUTHORITY STAYS SEPARATE

More compute does not enlarge permission to read private material or act in the world. A power transition changes execution, while identity, memory attribution and action boundaries continue.

05 / A MISSION IN MOTIONAN ENGINEERING PROBLEM, FOLLOWED THROUGH

Escalate for a reason.
Return with something learned.

A difficult failure gives ALEPH several possible explanations. She can begin the investigation at her everyday state. A larger envelope becomes useful when an unresolved question is delaying a result.

BEGIN

Remember and frame.

Relevant past failures and current observations form an investigation. Their sources and assumptions travel with them.

EXPAND

Share, test, redirect.

Branches reuse a common calculation. A decisive experiment rejects two routes; the unaffected work continues.

RETURN

Keep the useful method.

An accepted fix and a validated diagnostic procedure enter ordinary memory. Extra resources are released; ALEPH’s history continues.

06 / WHAT WOULD COUNTUSEFUL RESULTS, NOT A BRIGHTER LABEL

The number has
to earn its light.

The aspiration is roughly twice the effective performance at each step.

A fair comparison starts from the same ALEPH snapshot, gives every state the same faculties and learned methods, and fixes the task, deadline and acceptance rule in advance. It counts preparation, verification, transfer and failed attempts. A brighter symbol is a request for an execution envelope; the measured result is a separate fact.

RESEARCH STATUS / 23 OCT 2026

A proposed architecture, ready to be tested.

The nine profiles and their relative multipliers are research targets, not measured ALEPH performance. The supplied R1 plan includes a small synthetic mathematics and dependency-graph laboratory; it does not demonstrate this power system in ALEPH’s live cognition. The next work is to test exact reuse, sharing and scheduling against strong baselines, then measure integrated gains without changing the organism’s continuity or standards of evidence.
